WHEN THE SEASON TURNS...
The cooler mornings, the calmer energy, that quiet sense that something new is coming - even if we can’t quite see it yet. Both Ayurveda and Samhain remind us this is a time for balance and reflection - an ending, a beginning and the promise of what’s next. Big VERVE news coming soon… In the meantime, here are our thoughts on this beautiful turning point of the year

When the season turns...
Autumn can have a tendency of sneaking up on us. One week we’re still chasing the last bit of light at 8pm and the next we’re pulling jumpers out of drawers and wondering how it got so dark so early. There’s a short, quiet spell between the two - a few weeks that feel softer, slower and strangely full of potential. The air changes. The field smells different. The rush of summer finally starts to fade. For us here at VERVE this is the time we start to look back and forward all at once. The festival feels both close and far away, the memories still vivid and the planning for the next already ramping up. It’s a strange place to sit but often where the best ideas appear ✨
On finding rhythm again
If summer is about expansion - energy everywhere, late nights, movement - then autumn is the recalibration. Not a full stop, just a change of tempo. There’s a reason this season feels grounding. As the light drops our melatonin steadies and our bodies naturally lean towards earlier nights and warmer meals. It’s as if nature is giving us permission to match its pace.
The energy doesn’t disappear, it just settles somewhere deeper. There's a few small things that make this time of year feel easier. Getting outside early - even just stepping out with a mug of tea while the kettle’s still warm helps. A bit of fresh air and light before I open my laptop makes everything feel calmer. Slowing one thing down - not everything, just one. Eating breakfast without a phone, or walking instead of driving somewhere close. It’s not always practical but it can make a significant difference.
Music over noise
Setting the tone for the day with quieter playlists in the mornings has been a game changer for me over the years - more mantra, less mayhem. A small autumn clear-out is always a good idea - like making space in my head as much as my house. None of it’s fancy but it helps to settle back into a rhythm.

On change (and not rushing it)
Maybe that’s the point - change doesn’t have to be dramatic to matter. This time of year isn’t a pause before the next thing, it’s its own season. A moment to breathe, regroup, quietly decide what’s next. There’s beauty in that, in not rushing to the next big push or pretending to be endlessly productive. Just noticing where you are.
So here’s to this moment 💚🍂✨
