OUR ETHOS

Description of image

Living in a Dark Sky Reserve and surrounded by some of the most beautiful countryside in the UK, we are aware of just how precious our environment is – and how important it is to protect it.

At VERVE, we believe that true wellbeing goes beyond looking after ourselves: it includes how we take care of the people and natural world around us.

That’s why every decision we make is guided by our commitment to look after the countryside, our community and the planet.

BUILDING A COMMUNITY

VERVE is more than a festival; it’s a community. From our village friends who volunteer to keep things moving on the day, to local yoga teachers running classes and workshops, VERVE is about celebrating the abundance of the brilliant doers and makers from our corner of the world.

CHOOSING OUR COLLABORATORS

We choose to work with and welcome small, like-minded brands and companies that share our values of doing the right thing, looking after our earth and being good to one another. The vast majority of our suppliers and partners are also from the local area, and many are returning to work with us for the third year in a row.

VERVE Festival works with partners, sponsors and suppliers who:

  • Encourage genuine mental and physical wellness as part of their brand and marketing plan.

  • Do not discriminate against customers or their staff in terms of age, gender, disability, sexuality or race.

  • Encourage a sustainable approach to the way they do business, for example through a local economy approach, reduced carbon footprint or low food miles; have good production ethics; and ensure fair equal pay for their staff and/or have policies which encourages this.

LEAVING NO TRACE

We are committed to minimising our impact on the surrounding landscape and have a ‘leave no trace policy’, meaning that we leave the Wiltshire countryside just as we found it.

Some of our sustainability initiatives include:

  • Low food miles: all our food and drink is sourced as locally as possible.

  • Low/No plastic: we provide free water stations and request that all our suppliers use zero plastic, or the absolute minimum amount possible, during VERVE.

  • Waste: all waste is disposed of in the most environmentally friendly way possible. Our pledge is to recycle 100% of waste so nothing ends up on a landfill site.

  • Signage: we reuse our festival signage and bunting year on year

We are always learning and growing. If you have any recommendations for how we can further minimise our impact, please get in touch.
